Carlos Mataix, titular lecturer at the Department of Organization Engineering of Madrid Polytechnic University, leads the Centre of Innovation and Technology for Development at the same university (itdUPM).

He has taken part in different initiatives of alliances for sustainability with technological companies, international agencies and NGO, and to the research of innovations improving most vulnerable people’s access to essential services such as water, energy or waste treatment.

Previously he has been co-founder of the NGO Engeneering Without Borders (now ONGAWA) and responsible of the Planning and Quality of Aid Unit of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).  He has published several articles and books about cooperation management and especially about building of alliances for sustainability with the corporate sector.
